JAN. 15 ? NASA awarded Raytheon Co. the Business, Administrative and Management Information Systems II task order, an eight-year, $183 million project to provide operations, equipment maintenance, systems administration, applications portfolio management, customer support, systems development and enhancement and systems studies. The deal was awarded Jan. 4.

The project provides support to the business and data systems division at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. Under the task order, Raytheon, will operate the division's central business and administrative computing complex 24 hours a day on business days.

The company also must meet performance metrics, provide computer security and contingency management and provide technology assessment and application. Raytheon of Lexington, Mass., is scheduled to begin work Feb. 1.

According to industry research firm Federal Sources Inc. of McLean, Va., NASA combined BAMIS II with two other programs, the Scientific Computer Operations Maintenance and Communications Recompete, and the Computational Analysis and Programming Support Services II.

The task order was awarded under the General Services Administration's Millennia contract, a $25 billion vehicle awarded in April 1999 to 12 companies and used by agencies looking to field large IT projects quickly.
