Anteon Wins $83 Million Air Force Contract

The Air Force has awarded Anteon Corp. a 15-year contract potentially worth $500 million to provide a broad range of professional services to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition.

The Air Force has awarded Anteon Corp. of Fairfax, Va., a 15-year contract potentially worth $500 million to provide a broad range of professional services to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition (SAF/AQ).

The contract, SAF/AQ Technical and Analytical Support, or SAFTAS, went into effect Jan. 1 with an initial order worth $83.5 million, said Ken Miller, Anteon's vice president for Air Force acquisition support.

Under SAFTAS, Anteon and its five teammates ? Sverdrup Technology Inc., Modern Technologies Corp., CMS Information Services Inc., Karta Technologies Inc. and ICI Inc. ? will provide expert support to all Air Force acquisition organizations at the Pentagon and in Rosslyn, Va. The contract may include supporting the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office in Crystal City, Va.

Miller said the contract award was a major win for his company. "We beat an incumbent that held the contract for 42 years," he said.

The incumbent was Anser Inc. of Arlington, Va. The Air Force specification required Anteon to add about 244 professional staff, most of whom have been hired from Anteon's work force, he said.
