Verizon Teams With Jawz for Information Security Services

NOV. 3 ? Verizon Communications Inc. selected Jawz Inc. this week to help large businesses and government customers carry out e-business plans by providing information security services.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Jawz of Toronto, a provider of secure information management solutions, will provide Verizon customers with information security assessments, security implementations, systems integration and public key infrastructure solutions.

The company serves government agencies, cybercrime and forensic specialists, health care providers, e-commerce businesses and telecom suppliers.

"This agreement links Jawz expertise in information security with Verizon's extensive selection of products and services," said Bob Mahood, executive vice president of corporate development for Jawz.

No Verizon government customers have signed on to use the security services yet, but the company expects to target the departments of Defense, Justice and Treasury and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Verizon of New York, was formed in July from the merger of Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp., and had 1999 revenue of $60 billion.
