OCT. 18 ? EzGov Inc., a provider of e-government technology, won a contract to provide Minnesota with a new electronic payment engine that will reach across all state agencies.
The Minnesota Office of Technology awarded the cross-agency contract to Atlanta-based EzGov Oct. 18. The amount of the award was not disclosed.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will be the first agency in the nation to use the new payment engine, said EzGov. The department began using it for online vehicle registration Oct. 18.
EzGov's PaymentEngine allows state agencies to process and validate payments, transfer funds, manage reporting and track fees, EzGov officials said.
The payment engine is the latest component of EzGov's evolving e-government technology platform, FlexFoundation. In addition to payment processing and tracking, the platform includes a portal toolkit, security and authentication.
Vehicle registration can be made by either credit card or electronic funds transfer from checking or savings accounts, said state officials. The transaction is encrypted to prevent disclosure of financial information to third parties, they said.
EzGov's products and services range from delivery and implementation of portal and electronic transaction software to professional services that help government agencies define e-government strategies.
The company generates revenue through licensing, maintenance and transaction fees. EzGov has more than 60 customers in 17 states.
