AUG. 25 ? Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., apparently is just what the doctor ordered for the Health Care Financing Administration.

CSC will be providing program integrity services to HCFA's Western Integrity Center under a $26.8 million contract.

CSC will provide services to Medicare Part B recipients in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and Iowa. CSC will also provide program integrity operations for Medicare Part A in North Dakota and Minnesota.

"CSC is honored to be selected by HCFA to serve as the program safeguard contractor for the Western Integrity Center," said Stephen Kalish, president of CSC's civil group. "This win further strengthens our position in the health care market. We look forward to enhancing service to Medicare beneficiaries."

The company will provide medical review, data analysis and program integrity tasks that protect against fraud and abuse and ensure that Medicare payment regulations are being followed.

CSC will work closely with Noridian Government Services, which provides carrier and intermediary support in this area.

The relationship with Noridian, which is based in Fargo, N.D., will help assure quality service to the beneficiary and provider communities.

CSC teammates on the contract include Delmarva Foundation of Easton, Md., VIPS Healthcare Information Solutions of Baltimore, Intelligent Technologies Corp. of San Antonio and Veridian Information Solutions of Arlington, Va.
