AUG. 11 ? Systems integrator NEC Business Network Solutions Inc. of Irving, Texas, has acquired SJI Corp., a Seattle-based network integration company with offices in Salt Lake City, Portland, Ore., and Spokane, Wash.

The acquisition will help NEC expand its business in the Pacific Northwest, NEC said in an Aug. 10 statement. SJI's government customers include the Army Corps of Engineers. Its other customers include insurance agencies, telecommunications vendors and financial and educational institutions.

"With the addition of the talented SJI personnel and strong management team, NEC BNS is strategically positioned to expand our national scope into the Northwest market," said Tom Burger, president and CEO of NEC BNS.

SJI focuses on providing multimedia networks that integrate voice, data and video across a single network infrastructure. NEC Business Network Solutions Inc. is a subsidiary of NEC America Inc. It provides voice, data and video communications network solutions from 45 offices in the United States and Puerto Rico.
