AUG. 4 ? Systems Consultants Inc., a provider of integrated solutions to the public sector, said it has signed a contract to provide the city of St. Peters, Mo., with an end-to-end e-government solution.

The initial phase of the contract for the software applications that will handle transactions made by citizens and businesses is valued at $85,250, said Traci Brown, corporate communications officer at SCI.

SCI of St. Louis will provide payment options for citizens and businesses through a Web portal. The information will pass through secured middleware for integration into the city's internal computer system, which includes SCI's iEnvision Series. Additionally, a Web browser provided by SCI will give authorized employees access to the system.

SCI's e-government solution use not only the company's iEnvision Series financial, payroll and property applications, but also third-party applications installed at St. Peters.

Among the transactions that eventually will be available through the portal are payment of utility bills, business license application and processing, permit application and processing, service requests and payment of court fines.

St. Peters, with a population of 57,000, chose the SIC solution as a way to improve information and service delivery via the Internet and as a way to invest in cost effective technologies that build a foundation for future expansion at reduced cost. SCI, which has a staff of 108 employees and is a privately owned company, would not disclose its annual revenue for 1999.
