AUG. 2 ? CACI International Inc. of Arlington, Va., gave its electronic government capabilities a boost by signing a partnership deal with Commerce One Inc. of Pleasanton, Calif.

The two companies have created a single online solution that can be used for contract management, invoicing, acceptance and receipt as well as electronic catalogue procurement.

Commerce One has combined its Buysite software and access to its Global Trading Web with CACI's Comprizon.buy electronic purchasing system and electronic invoicing system. The combined solution can handle procurement actions as complicated as soliciting and negotiating contracts, or as simple as buying paper clips, officials with the companies said.

"This relationship with CACI extends Commerce Oneís efforts in the public sector," said Chuck Donchess, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Commerce One. "We were impressed by the depth and applicability of CACI's e-commerce technology across a board range of markets."

For CACI, the partnership furthers its drive to make electronic business a key growth area for the company.

"The opportunity to work with Commerce One is well-tailored to our vision of e-Business," said Ken Johnson, president of CACI. "Our combined CACI-Commerce One solution fills a need for a better way to handle complex procurement, and to manage a full procurement in both the public and private sectors."

Also under the agreement, CACI can host Commerce Oneís BuySite for any of its worldwide customers. CACI and Commerce One also will work together to market, implement and sell the solution in both the private and public sector.
