Robbins-Gioia Wins $3.6 Million NASA Subcontract

JULY 19 ? Robbins-Gioia Inc., Alexandria, Va., won an eight-year, $3.6 million subcontract from Federal Data Corp., Bethesda, Md., for NASA Glenn Research Center's Microgravity Research, Development and Operations Contract in Cleveland.

JULY 19 ? Robbins-Gioia Inc., Alexandria, Va., won an eight-year, $3.6 million subcontract from Federal Data Corp., Bethesda, Md., for NASA Glenn Research Center's Microgravity Research, Development and Operations Contract in Cleveland.


FDC is the prime contractor on the project, which is designed to help build the hardware for the International Space Station. Robbins-Gioia will support FDC in risk management, including project management and planning and performance measurement.


"By selecting Robbins-Gioia as a subcontractor, FDC has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the MRDOC initiative," said Mike Sledge, vice president at Robbins-Gioia. "Our 20 years of management consulting experience will help FDC deliver the MRDOC effort on time and within budget."


Under the terms of the contract, work will be issued to Robbins-Gioia on a task-order basis.


The MRDOC project will design, build and operate space station infrastructure, experiments and ground-based operations and training facilities to examine some of the physics of fluids and combustion in the microgravity of near space.


Robbins-Gioia also will provide a Web-based MRDOC Information Management System, which will integrate FDC'S automated systems. The system will allow the company and NASA to address risk issues and keep the program on track.
