Veterans Affairs Will Pilot Online Training

Veterans Affairs Will Pilot Online Training

By Gail Repsher, Staff Writer

JULY 11 ? The Department of Veterans Affairs will begin a six-month trial of Web-based training developed by VCampus Corp., a Reston, Va., application service provider, the company announced July 11.

VCampus, which develops, manages and hosts Web-based training for government agencies, corporations and academic institutions, will create two virtual campuses for the department, enabling 9,000 employees to access nearly 300 of VCampus' online courses from 10 VA locations.

The company offers training in areas ranging from personal development to information technology to management techniques.

"We are excited about using this learning technology. We look forward to providing department employees another avenue for online learning," said VA education official Stan Sinclair.
If the pilot is successful, the VA will make VCampus' courses available to all of its employees.

Only employees of the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration and the National Cemetery Administration will participate in the pilot project.

VCampus also powers the General Services Administration's Online University and the GSA-sponsored GovLearn, a virtual campus that offers online courses to employees governmentwide.
