JUNE 14 - ACS Government Solutions Group has been awarded a contract by the General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service to provide an online platform for conducting private auctions, which are to begin this month.

The services will be part of the GSA's Buyers.gov, the Web portal for government procurement services. Federal agencies can use the ACS services to conduct online auctions and select the best vendor for their needs, such as bulk purchases of computers, routers, servers, printers and other information technology equipment.

These services will allow federal agencies and GSA buyers to post requirements for IT products and services on the Internet, which will increase speed and efficiency, ACS officials said.

ACS Government Solutions Group, a provider of information technology services and business process outsourcing to the federal government, is headquartered in Rockville, Md. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Affiliated Computer Services Inc. of Dallas, a provider of IT solutions to commercial, financial and government markets.

ACS partnered for the contract with Suppliermarket.com, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of reverse auction services. Together, the companies will offer an online marketplace with request-for-quote features, a system called Smartmatch to match qualified vendors and buyers, and real-time online bidding.
