MAY 26 - The federal unit of Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa., is looking for a new vice president. Nancy Friedman has left the job she has been in only since November to "pursue other interests."

Company spokeswoman Susan Beck said that Friedman's departure was mutual and she did not know what Friedman was leaving to do. Unisys announced Friedman's leaving on May 25.

Daniel F. Moats has been named acting vice president and general manager of Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group, which is based in McLean, Va.

Friedman joined Unisys in late 1998. As vice president and general manager, she took the reins of the federal government unit in November 1999, replacing James McGuirk, who had run the unit since 1992. McGuirk took a new position overseeing Unisys' international and state and local government work. The moves were part of a broad restructuring of Unisys.

In a statement, Unisys said Friedman was brought on to lead the transition of the federal group, taking it from a technology company to a solutions business.

"She has accomplished that mission," said Joe McGrath, president of Unisys Global Industries. "We thank her for her leadership as a senior executive and we wish her the best in her new endeavor."

Friedman was not available for comment.

Moats is a longtime Unisys employee and most recently held marketing and operational responsibility for key federal clients such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Defense and the Social Security Administration.
