The contract for the first phase of the project was awarded in September. This first phase is valued at $1.9 million.

Ultrapro International Inc. of Gladstone, N.J., was the sole bidder and awardee of a contract from the state of Iowa to conduct a feasibility study on the future of the Iowa Communications Network.

The Iowa Communications Network is a statewide, state-administered, fiber-optic network that transmits full-motion, two-way, interactive video and data and long-distance voice communications.

The study will be used to determine if the state communications network will be privatized. The contract, awarded Oct. 9, is valued at $73,900. The study should be completed and ready for state review by early January.

The Tennessee Department of Public Safety selected Intergraph Public Safety of Huntsville, Ala., to provide a statewide, turnkey, computer-aided dispatch system.

The $2.5 million contract was awarded in July.

The Nevada Medicaid Program chose Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nevada for a Medicaid Management Information System Fiscal Agent.

The contract, which was awarded in September, is valued at $19.5 million over three years.

The Wisconsin Department of Human Services selected Wassau Financial Systems of Mossinee, Wis., for assistance in establishing an automated, server-based, front-end payment receipting system. The contract, which was awarded in September, is valued at $482,000 plus annual maintenance fees. The system will be used at the Child Support Payment Center, which maintains and processes statewide child support cases.

These information technology contract awards by state and local governments are compiled by Federal Sources Inc.'s state and local division. Federal Sources is a market research firm in McLean, Va.
