The Department of Revenue in Madison, Wis., selected several vendors, including IBM Corp., American Management Systems Inc., Deloitte & Touche and Unisys to develop an Integrated Tax System. A $1.02 million contract for project plan definition services was awarded to IBM in May and additional contracts will be awarded to the other vendors when that phase is complete.

The Department of Revenue in Helena, Mont., chose Unisys Corp., Blue Bell, Pa., to develop an Integrated Tax System. The new system will provide a foundation for the addition of business rules related to specific tax areas to be phased in over the next three to five years. The contract, awarded in April, is valued at $11 million.

The Iowa Department of General Services in Des Moines selected Iowa Interactive, West Des Moines, to serve as the state's agent in developing and managing a public information network. The vendor will be required to ensure that the public can access Iowa government services and public data through an electronic gateway. The contract, awarded in April, is valued at $12.7 million.

The State Health Care Authority in Olympia, Wash., chose Orion Consulting, Cleveland, to develop an outpatient services prospective payment system. The new system will apply to reimbursement for all outpatient hospital costs and facility costs billed by ambulatory surgery centers. The contract, awarded in March, is valued at $600,000.

The State Corporation Commission in Richmond, Va., selected Arthur Andersen to create a business requirements definition document and a general design document; and the recommendation of an implementation strategy for a new integrated system. The contract, awarded in late March, is valued at $542,250.

The Department of Criminal Justice in Austin, Texas, selected Deloitte & Touche for business process re-engineering services to support a revamping of the agency's Offender Information Management processes. The contract, awarded in January, is valued at $2.47 million.
