GENERAL GOVERNMENT

Bell Atlantic Federal Systems, Washington, has received a five-year, $1.84 million contract to maintain the administrative telephone system for the Federal Aviation Administration's Eastern Region. The contract is BAFS' first involving the combined territories resulting from the Bell Atlantic-Nynex merger. The contract covers three switching locations in Long Island, N.Y., and one in Leesburg, Va. Bell Atlantic is providing all maintenance for the ATS, which serves personnel who support the air traffic controllers. BAFS may also have significant opportunities to provide new software, hardware and services throughout the life of the contract, which has four one-year options.

Computer Equity Corp., Chantilly, Va., reports that its Federal Services Inc. subsidiary has received a five-year, $2 billion contract from the National Institutes of Health. FSI will provide hardware, software, training, warranty and maintenance service nationwide. COMPEQ subsidiary Government Telecommunications Inc. has won a five-year General Services Administration contract potentially worth $34 million to provide telecommunications equipment and services in California and Nevada. GTI also has received a seven-year contract worth up to $2 million to provide a telecommunications-voice processing system for the Social Security Administration's Office of Hearing and Appeals in Fairfax, Va.

Harris Corp., Melbourne, Fla., has won a $110 million-plus contract to modernize up to 61 of the Federal Aviation Administration's automated flight service stations over the next decade. Harris, teaming with Data Transformation Corp. and Unisys, will install systems combining weather-display graphics and automated flight-planning capabilities.

Science Applications International Corp. in Washington has received a five-year, $47 million contract to provide information technology support services for forensic systems at the FBI's Washington headquarters. The work performed on this program is a follow-on to another contract awarded previously to SAIC. SAIC-Synetics in Vienna, Va., developed a DNA forensic database used by law enforcement agencies to assist in solving violent crime cases. The new contract will support a wide base of information technology needs for database and communications services to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. SAIC's team includes Spectrum Technologies, Microsoft Consulting Services and Pace Infotec.

Identix Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., has received a $2.5 million order from the Immigration and Naturalization Service for 43 TouchPrint 600 live-scan identification and biometric imaging systems. The technology will be used in INS centers to screen people applying for benefits and entitlements ranging from work cards to citizenship. INS is using TouchPrint at its deportation centers.

Mega-Tech, Falls Church, Va., and Mactec, Germantown, Md., are teaming on a $200,000 project to assess whether the National Aeronautics and Space Administration should seek ISO 14000 certification.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

Government Technology Services Inc., Chantilly, Va., has won an eight-year contract worth an estimated $469 million to provide worldwide systems integration services, products and support for the Army's Standard Army Management Systems.

Hughes Defense Communications, Fort Wayne, Ind., has received a $79.2 million multiyear contract to provide 2,392 enhanced position location reporting system receiver/transmitters to the Army's Communications-Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, N.J.

Government Systems Inc., Chantilly, Va., has been awarded a two-year, $2.5 million contract to provide 47 nuclear-detection kits to the U.S. On-Site Inspection Agency. The kits will be used by border guards for up to 20 nations adjacent to the former Soviet Union.

Robbins-Gioia Inc., Alexandria, Va., has received a $1.3 million task order to support the Earned Value Project Management Initiative at Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. The work involves scheduling-system enhancements and development of program-management methodologies. The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract offers proven processes and systems to support the warfighting capabilities of the United States. Anniston Army Depot is the Army's primary industrial maintenance facility for the overhaul and maintenance of tracked combat vehicles.

Comark Federal Systems, Chantilly, Va., has a blanket purchase agreement with the Army's Defense Supply Service Washington to provide hardware, software and peripherals. Comark says the 18-month agreement potentially is worth $20 million.

OTHER

Unisys Corp., McLean, Va., has won a three-year, $7.6 million contract to provide information technology outsourcing services to the Washington County, Ore., Support Services Department.

TransCore, San Diego, has received a $2.3 million contract to set up and operate an automatic vehicle identification service center in Fort Myers, Fla. The facility will use software based on TransCore's advanced revenue collection system used on toll roads in Florida, Illinois and Northern Virginia. TransCore, a unit of Science Applications International Corp., also has won a $1.8 million contract from the San Diego Association of Governments to develop an electronic toll collection and violation enforcement system for the I-15 ExpressPass program.

Sedona GeoServices Inc., Limerick, Pa., has received a $200,000 contract from Lockheed Martin Information Systems to integrate its Sedona DMTool software with a simulation model developed by LMIS.
