CLARIFICATION
An Aug. 28 story on lieutenant governor candidates John Hager and L.F. Payne understated their campaign donations by excluding donations made before Jan. 1, 1996, and donations smaller than $100. In a submission delivered to the state government July 15, Hager's campaign claimed donations of $1,015,000, including some funds that were donated in early July. Payne's campaign had collected $953,000 by June 30.
