TO A CORNER OFFICE

SolCom Systems Inc. in Reston, Va., a wholly owned subsidiary of SolCom Systems Ltd. in Livingston, Scotland, appointed Fran DeLaura president and CEO of U.S. Operations. DeLaura has been with the company for more than three years.

Madison Technology Group, New York, appointed Steven Gersten vice president of sales. Gersten was formerly executive director of national sales for Westinghouse Communications. The company also hired Walter Cannon as director of corporate market development.

SpaceWorks Inc., Rockville, Md., appointed Mark F. Creamer vice president of product marketing. Prior to this appointment, Creamer was senior director of planning and engineering for Software AG.

National Systems Management Corp., Alexandria, Va., announced the election of Sandra H. Raftery as president.

Pulsar Data Systems, Lanham, Md., appointed Christopher K. Jones president of the new technology sciences division. Jones was previously senior vice president and chief operating officer for NetCom Solutions International in Herndon, Va.

Advanced Technology Systems in McLean, Va., appointed Michael Lisagor vice president of business development. Lisagor was recently vice president of business development for Anstec.

Primus Telecommunications Inc. in Vienna, Va., appointed Edmund (Ted) Chislett president of Primus Canada. Chislett was previously a consultant and principal in his own company, GT Communications Inc.

DynCorp in Reston, Va., named Paul Branske vice president and general manager of its Norco division in Norco, Calif. Branske was recently the operations director for the information technology operations division of Computer Sciences Corp. in San Diego.

Telephonics Corp. in Farmingdale, N.Y., appointed Philip J. Greco vice president of business development-commercial operations in its communication systems division. Greco was previously director of business development. Telephonics is a subsidiary of Griffon Corp. of Jericho, N.Y.

LCC International Inc. in McLean, Va., appointed John Morris group vice president of products and systems. Morris was recently group vice president of the wireless network products division at Comsat RSI.

A-1 Cabling & Consulting Services Inc. in Alexandria, Va., appointed Guenter J. Lorenz to vice president of retail/wholesale operations.

Universal Systems & Technology Inc.
appointed Thomas Styc vice president of operations. Styc also assumes general management for the company's Washington area operations.

GETTING A WINDOW

CrossMedia Corp., Reston, Va., announced that Dr. Peter Dingus has joined the staff as director of Advanced Technology. Dingus was most recently director of Advanced Technology at Millennia Software, a Silicon Valley start-up company specializing in interactive telephony.

Paul Douglass Steel has been named director, National Office Operations for the Internal Revenue Service. He is located at the New Carrollton facility. Prior to joining the IRS, Steel served four years in the Bush White House as deputy of White House information systems and was IRM director for D.C. government in the Kelly administration.

Lanigan, Ryan, Malcolm & Doyle PC, Rockville, Md., promoted the following people to managers: John G. Clay, Stephen G. Dasher, Jennifer K. Smith and Stephen H. Staton.

BICC Brand-Rex, Willimantic, Conn., appointed Linda C. Ermelin director of marketing and sales operations.

Adam Edelman has been named regional sales manager for the Mid-Atlantic corridor by Houston-based Charter Communications International.

Mill Valley, Calif.-based AccountMate Software announced that Bob Ramers, a provider of consulting and training services to value-added resellers throughout the country, has joined the AccountMate team.

National Systems Management Corp. in Alexandria, Va., named Gloria Huntzinger as business manager.

General Signal Networks Inc., Mt. Laurel, N.J., appointed Jayne Fitzgerald general manager of the Mt. Laurel operations. Fitzgerald was previously vice president of AT&T's global operations.

SQL Software, Vienna, Va., hired Brad Dashiell as director of North American sales. Dashiell will direct sales operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Telephonics Corp. in Farmingdale, N.Y., appointed John (Jack) Brand as director of business development for the command systems division. Brand will direct new business activities in maritime surveillance radar product lines for both domestic and international markets.

The Multifamily Housing Institute, Washington, named Shaun M. Brady executive director. Brady has also been appointed chief information officer of the Urban Land Institute, an affiliate of the Multifamily Housing Institute.

FreeBalance Inc., formerly Linkteck Corp., in Rosslyn, Va. appointed Brian Awrey, C.A., as controller. Awrey was previously with Chipworks Inc.

AWARDS

HOST presented the First Annual HOST Award for Achievement in Health Care Informatics to David E. Morgan, vice president of Motorola Inc. Washington-based HOST is a nonprofit consortium enabling health care through better information technology.

The Northern Virginia Technology Council named Virginia state delegate Joe May for the second time as one of the top "Tech Ten" legislators. May also won the award in 1995.

AlliedSignal Technical Services Corp. in Columbia, Md.,has received four awards from the Defense Information Systems Agency for keeping the Ft. Detrick, Md., earth station 100 percent operational for the sixth consecutive year.
