The Illinois Department of Employment Security, Springfield, Ill., awarded a contract to Andersen Consulting Strategic Services Division in Wellesley, Mass., for $252,000. The consultant will assist the department's management team in the creation of a multiyear strategic plan. This project is partially funded by the federal government.

The New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority awarded a contract to MCI Systemhouse of Atlanta for $4.621 million. Under the terms of the contract, the vendor is to develop a new capital programs management system.

The State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse awarded a contract to Shared Medical Systems of Malvern, Pa., for $12,272,970. The vendor is to develop an integrated health care information system that will support the university's acute care hospital and outpatient clinics. This project is partially funded by the federal government.

The Department of Public Welfare, Harrisburg, Pa., awarded a contract to Citibank's Global Stored SmartCard Division, Harrisburg, Pa., for the development of a statewide electronic benefits transfer system. State officials estimate the contract's value to be between $80 million and $100 million, depending upon usage.

The Department of General Services, Automated Technology Acquisition Office, Harrisburg, Pa., has awarded a contract to Fujitsu in Atlanta for a statewide installation of PBX systems. Based upon usage, the contract's value is expected to be $7.5 million per year over the three-year base period.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, Harrisburg, Pa., has awarded a contract to Intergraph, King of Prussia, Pa., for $1,205,490. Under the agreement, the vendor is to provide maintenance services for the department's computer-aided drafting and design equipment.

The Georgia Department of Administrative Services in Atlanta awarded a contract to Keane Inc. in Georgia for $3,288,000. A team of consultants will conduct an assessment study of the year 2000 problem in Georgia and develop year 2000 implementation plans for each agency.
