Motorola and Corsair Team

Motorola's Cellular Infrastructure Group, Arlington Heights, Ill., and Corsair Communications Corp., Los Angeles, signed an agreement that will allow Motorola CIG to market and distribute Corsair's PhonePrint cellular fraud prevention system.

The system uses radio frequency fingerprinting to detect and disconnect calls from counterfeit or cloned cellular telephones.

Motorola officials report that the system has already disconnected more than 65 million fraudulent call attempts in 22 states. Corsair has been a member of Motorola's IN2 Solution Center, a testing and demonstration lab that uses open architecture and industry standards to produce wireless intelligent network services.

Cohesion to Distribute Microsoft

Seattle-based Cohesion was given a license by Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., to distribute Internet Explorer, NetMeeting Whiteboard/Group and Internet Mail and News. The products will give Internet users a standard browser to access marketing database applications developed by Cohesion.

Under the license, Cohesion will provide customized installation programs and pre-configure the Microsoft products to individual client needs.

Netwave Signs With Merisel

Netwave Technologies Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., signed an agreement with Merisel Inc., El Segundo, Calif., to distribute the company's wireless networking products, including the AirSurfer Wireless LAN PC Card and AirSurfer Access Point.

Both will be immediately available from Merisel's value-added resellers across North America. The AirSurfer wireless LAN products allow portable PC users to maintain access to all information and applications provided by their wired LAN connection from anywhere within the work environment.

Globelle Launches Web site

Globelle Corp., Vienna, Va., has unveiled a new World Wide Web site (www.globelle.com) that gives product availability and pricing information through an electronic catalog.

Resellers will be able to search for products based on category and features, as well as Globelle vendor item number. Search results will be able to be imported into a spreadsheet package and links to vendor Web sites are also provided. Detailed order information will be available, including easy shipment tracking through direct links to FedEx and United Parcel Service Web sites. Globelle resellers can obtain a password to access the site's features through the Web site or by calling their Globelle account executive.

D&H Offers Reseller Course

D&H Distributing Corp., Harrisburg, Pa., will offer resellers an emerging technology survival course. Technology '97 is aimed at opening profit doors for value-added resellers, systems integrators and resellers by revealing new market trends, manufacturers' visions and the latest emerging technologies.

The series of nine seminars sponsored by D&H will cover topics such as Microsoft's vision for the future of the Internet, how to improve a reseller's financial health, future trends in videoconferencing and where the best opportunities are for profits through emerging technologies.

A session will come to the Baltimore/Washington area April 11 and run from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Interested resellers should call (800) 711-3674, or fax their name, company, address and phone number (770) 419-4765. Cost of the course is $25.

Intermec Chooses ScanSource

Intermec Corp., Everett, Wash., a manufacturer of data collection technologies, and ScanSource Corp., Greenville, S.C., finalized a master reseller agreement.

Under the agreement, ScanSource will serve as a U.S. master reseller to Intermec's network of associate resellers providing order processing, delivery and support logistics. The pact allows ScanSource to immediately provide order fulfillment capabilities to Intermec's existing associate resellers. Intermec officials are optimistic that the deal will speed the process of delivery of products to resellers.
