BDM, Cap Gemini Partner on Year 2000: BDM International Inc., McLean, Va., and Cap Gemini, a New York-based information technology consulting firm, have formed a partnership to provide a host of year 2000 solutions for government and commercial customers.


The pact covers a wide range of services including assessment, planning, renovation, testing, validation and follow-on auditing of year 2000 solutions.

BDM chief executive Philip Odeen said the relationship combines the integrator's core strengths of program management and testing with Cap Gemini's TransMillennium product for the century date change conversion.

The $4 billion Cap Gemini has more than 90 clients for year 2000 conversion, more than 135 active and completed service engagements and a number of license agreements worldwide, company officials said.

MCI Systemhouse Teams With Marcam, DEC and Microsoft: MCI Systemhouse has partnered with Marcam Corp., Digital Equipment Corp. and Microsoft Corp. to offer an enterprisewide solution to support the process-manufacturing industries.

The offering is aimed at the global, broad-based process manufacturing market including the chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, metals and glass, and pulp and paper industries.

Under the agreement, Marcam will provide core enterprise resource planning applications, Microsoft will bring its leading family of software products and tools, and Digital will provide its AlphaServer hardware.

The combined resources of the companies will meet a range of industry needs for greater speed and flexibility, the companies said in a statement about the agreement.

Unisys Expands Support Services Program: Unisys Corp.'s Global Customer Services business unit has launched OneCall, which gives corporate desktop users access to multiple providers for services and products.

The toll-free, one-call access to multiple suppliers gives clients greater administrative, financial and operational control over difficult to manage, distributed computing environments, company officials said.

Blue Bell, Pa.-based Unisys also announced a new joint development and service alliance with Sykes Enterprises Inc., Tampa, Fla. This relationship integrates Unisys GCS' global infrastructure and 8,000 service personnel with Sykes' extensive North American and European network of 11 multilingual help-desk centers, according to Unisys.
