US West has announced several key executive changes. Sol Trujillo, president and CEO of US West Marketing Resources Group, has been named president and CEO of US West Communications Group. Gary Ames, president and CEO of US West Communications Group, has been named president and CEO of US West International. Dick Callahan, president and CEO of US West International, will retire in May 1996.
Technical Communications Corp. announced the appointment of Roland S. Gerard as president.
Gregory D. Ballentine has been appointed general manager, Government Marketing and vice president, Commercial and Government Systems for Rochester, N.Y.- based Eastman Kodak Co.
Richard E. Stephenson, corporate vice president of Technology and Government Relations at DynCorp has been elected president of the Army Aviation Association of America for a two-year term.
Sprint Telecommunications Venture has appointed A. Allan Kurtze to senior vice president of the venture. Prior to this appointment, Kurtze served as senior vice president for operations for Sprint's Local Telecommunications Division.
SI Diamond Technology Inc. in Houston has named C.R. Kline chief operating officer. Prior to joining SIDT, Kline was president of Horizon Battery Technologies Inc.
Technology Service Corp. has named Richard Briones as director of Corporate Business Development in Silver Spring, Md. Most recently, Briones was manager of California operations.
Paul G. Leslie was named vice president and general manager of BDM Federal's Civil Systems Integration Business Unit in McLean, Va. Leslie will oversee all BDM's civilian agency systems and systems integration business development activities.
Cordant Inc. announced that James R. Pompa has joined the company's senior management team as vice president of Program Development.
William A. Wood has joined Bank of America in the newly created position of vice president and relationship manager in the Washington office of the Government Services Division.
Rockville, Md.-based INTERSOLV, a provider of client/server development solutions has appointed Michael J. Duffy to vice president, North American operations. Most recently, he served as executive vice president for Software 2000 and was responsible for corporate planning, sales, marketing and professional services worldwide.
The Orkand Corp. has named Dennis G. Perry vice president of technology. Prior to joining Orkand, Perry served seven years with Unisys Corp.

Certified Network Systems and Services has announced the appointments of Andrew Gerber to director of sales for Maryland operations and Alvaro Ibarra to director of CNSS's technical services. Gerber will build a sales force and oversee sales. Ibarra will manage the service department.
Berkeley Corp. has made some staff changes in its Alexandria offices. Kathy Santa Croce was promoted to general manager after serving as Client Services manager. George Rice was promoted to senior account executive after serving as account executive at the Bala Cynwyd, Pa., offices. Other changes include Joe McDonald as account executive, Elizabeth Evans as manager of operations, and Janet Nunley as enrollment counselor.
ANSTEC Inc. of Fairfax, Va., has named Louis M. DeTurris as director of proposals.
Intelsat announced that W. Vincent Walisko Jr. has been named director of Global Broadcast and Special Services for the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization.
Mecklermedia Corp., Westport, Conn., announced the appointment of Ellis Booker as a senior editor of Web Week, its controlled circulation newspaper devoted to World Wide Web development. He joins the company from Computerworld where he served as online editor.
3Dlabs Inc., San Jose, Calif., announced that Henry Choy, 3D product manager at Yamaha, has joined the company as director of Marketing, Entertainment Products. Dr. Allen Garroway, head of the Naval Research Laboratory Polymer Diagnostics Section of the Chemistry Division is the recipient of the 1995 Edison Chapter of Sigma Xi Award in Applied Science. The award comes for his role in the development of new technology, nuclear quadrupole resonance, for detecting relevant quantities of explosives in a background of benign materials.
Malcolm R. Currie, chairman emeritus of Hughes Aircraft Co. will receive the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' IEEE Founders Medal for technical and managerial leadership in the electronics industry.

Pacific Northwest Laboratory of Richland, Wash., in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, successfully demonstrated in the laboratory that microbes energized by vegetable oil can filter nitrate from simulated underground aquifers. Nitrate is considered one of the most pervasive groundwater contaminants in the United States.
