Maryland Tech Council Picks Brasington

The Suburban Maryland/Montgomery County Technology Council has named a former Montgomery County director of economic development as its new president. Dyan L. Brasington, currently executive director of the West Virginia Development Office, had worked closely with the tech council.

"She knows the region and the issues facing our high technology community," said Lew Shuster, chairman of the council. "Her experience with public-private economic development [will help] establish our region as one of the major technology centers in the nation."

The Suburban Maryland/Montgomery County Technology Council has named a former Montgomery County director of economic development as its new president. Dyan L. Brasington, currently executive director of the West Virginia Development Office, had worked closely with the tech council.

The second president in the council's history, succeeding Walter Plosila, Brasington has headed the economic development agencies in Howard County, Md., and Prince William County, Va. She came to the region from an economic development position in Florida.

"Technology industry in the region is growing," she said. "Moreover, it has been able to utilize research from our universities and federal laboratories to the advantage of all citizens."

She officially joins the council on Nov. 15.
