The U.S. government market for the Internet of Things (IoT) is beginning to take shape. Across government, agencies are exploring how they can harness the countless networked devices already embedded in their operations to gain new insights into their existing services—and to create new services to support their missions.

The opportunities for government contractors and suppliers will grow substantially over the next couple of years, with the development of what market research firm IDC calls an “IoT ecosystem,” including device vendors, communications service providers, IT service providers, and systems integrators. The challenge for industry is to ensure that IoT solutions are based on secure technology and services from end-to-end.

This event featured thought-leaders from government and industry, providing government contractors and suppliers with insights into this growing market, its emerging requirements, and the long-term business outlook.
