Category management is widely seen as a turning point in federal IT procurement. This initiative represents a new way of doing business, leveraging private-sector best practices to provide agencies with more efficient and cost-effective access to IT products and services. Government’s relationship with industry is vital to this initiative.

As part of category management, the federal government is looking to develop a more collaborative relationship with its suppliers.

At this Washington Technology Category Management Industry Day, attendees heard from executives from leading civilian and defense agencies who offered their insights into how category management is reshaping the federal IT market—and how suppliers can adapt and thrive.
