Navy looks to small business for surface ship testing

A small Fredericksburg, Virginia-based company has won a $27 million contract to support the testing of all Navy surface ships as well as Coast Guard vessels.

Tekla Research was one of two bidders to support the Navy’s Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force Surface Warfare Division 70, or COMPTEVFOR Division 70, which is responsible for evaluating warfighting capabilities of the Navy fleet.

Tekla will be responsible for all work involving engineering, auxiliary and combat systems that go through operational testing. That includes documentation review, modeling and simulation, program management and test design and analysis, according to procurement documents.

The contract was competed as a set-aside for service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses. Tekla also is employee-owned.
