Kilberg era nears end as NVTC names acting CEO

Bobbie Kilberg's planned retirement takes effect next week as the Northern Virginia Technology Council names Brad Schwartz as acting president and CEO.

The Bobbie Kilberg era at the Northern Virginia Technology Council is coming to a close next week after 22 years at the helm of the business association.

Kilberg announced her retirement in October and today the group announced it hired an acting president and CEO in Brad Schwartz to fill the leadership role. NVTC said that COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the timeline for finding a permanent replacement for Kilberg.

Schwartz is the former president and CEO of Blue Canopy and has held other senior positions at BearingPoint and Oracle.

Kilberg will be staying on as a strategic adviser and has been named NVTC president and CEO emeritus.

What she won’t get is the big send-off she deserves because of the social distancing limits in place to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

As part of the transition, NVTC has created a Chairman’s Council that Kilberg and Schwartz will also sit on. Other members include Richard Montoni, vice chairman of Maximus and current NVTC chairman; Greg Baroni, CEO of Attain and NVTC vice chairman; and Christine Kallivokas, NVTC chief operating officer.
