SAIC again takes $655M Air Force space support contract

For a second time, Science Applications International Corp. has won a $655 million Air Force contract for support services on the ground to support military satellites.

SAIC is the incumbent through its acquisition of Engility Corp. and initially won the recompete last year. But a competitor in Peraton protested and the Government Accountability Office ruled the Air Force needed to review the small business requirements of the solicitation.

Peraton had argued that SAIC’s proposal didn’t have a high enough percentage of small business participation.

The Air Force has evidently re-evaluated both requirements and proposals, but has again chosen SAIC/Engility for the Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment contract.

I’ve reached out to Peraton to see if they will protest again and will update this post if I hear back.

The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center Development Corps will use the contract to further develop the Ground System Enterprise, the system used to control military satellite systems. Work will include the evolution and building out of enterprise ground services.

Most of the work will be done at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico and Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado.
