NASA putting $400M small business contract up for grabs

An industry day is rapidly approaching for a nearly $400 million NASA small business contract that will support human spaceflight.
The response date for a nearly $400 million NASA small business contract focused on human spaceflight support is rapidly approaching.
Companies that want to attend and also want one-on-one meetings at the May 13 industry day have until Thursday, May 9 to respond.
Currently held by Barrios Technology, the current contract has a value of $386.9 million over five years so this has the potential to be a transformative contract for any small business that wins it. It’s unclear whether Barrios plans to bid again. Attempts to contact them were not successful.
Known as the Mission and Program Integration contract, NASA uses it to procure products and services to support the International Space Station.
But NASA says in its statement of work that the contract also supports other NASA programs and projects such as the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability, the Cargo Resupply Serivces-2 contract and H-II Transfer Vehicle-X.
Services under the MAPI contract include program management, business management, IT services, systems engineering and integration, mission planning, operations and safety and mission assurance.
The Johnson Space Center is managing the contract and the industry day will be at the center’s Gilruth Recreation Center. The presentation to industry will be held between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on May 13. One-on-one meetings are slated for 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. that afternoon.
