Federal tech firms join battle against immigration ban

At least 10 of nearly 100 companies opposing the Trump administration's travel ban are firms with significant work in the federal market.

Among the 97 companies that have signed on to an amicus brief opposing the Trump administration’s travel ban are several with deep roots in the government market.

The companies say the executive order on immigration violates the U.S. Constitution and immigration laws.

While I’m sure I’ll miss some companies with significant work in the federal market, the ones that jumped out to me are:

  • Apple
  • Box
  • Citrix Systems
  • Cloudera
  • GitHub
  • Google
  • Intel
  • Microsoft
  • Salesforce

Amazon had filed a similar brief earlier.

A federal judge in Seattle blocked most of the executive order that banned or severely curtailed travel from seven pre-dominantly Muslim countries. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has so far upheld the order while the administration works on an appeal.

Whichever way the appeals court rules, the case is likely headed to the Supreme Court.

The case was brought by the States of Washington and Minnesota.
