HHS floats need for IT support for insurance programs

HHS and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services are looking into whether they should set up a small business contract for IT support for various health insurance programs.

In a new sources sought notice, the Health and Human Service Department is exploring whether it should set up a small business contract or contracts to provide IT support to various health insurance programs.

The programs include requirements of the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and Medicare. The contract would be used by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services.

HHS is likely to use CIO-SP3, GSA Alliant or some other large multiple award vehicle to set up the contract.

The contract will be used to improve data processing operations and the implementation of statutory and regulatory requirements.

Some of the services they are looking for include custom software development, cloud and COTS configuration capabilities, design and development methodologies, production operations and security and privacy management.

Responses are due Feb. 15. The solicitation number is 170513.

The RFI was first published Jan. 25 with an update on Jan. 31.
