DHS priorities take center stage at WT industry day

We take a deep dive into the priorities and needs of the Homeland Security Department at our next WT Industry Day.

While a lot of the details about the priorities of the new Trump administration are yet to be worked out, one thing is for certain: The Homeland Security Department will continue to get plenty of attention.

The mission and needs of the agency will not change, and our upcoming DHS Industry Day on Dec. 15 at the Tysons Corner, Va., Sheraton will give you a great opportunity to hear about the mission and the needs of the department from some of its top leaders.

Our lineup includes CIO Luke McCormack, who is never shy about speaking his mind. He’ll be joined by chief procurement officer Soraya Correa, who oversees some of the biggest contracts in the market.

Diving deeper into individual DHS agencies and bureaus, we have representatives from Customs and Border Protection, the Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The speakers will be sharing their insights on what is happening at DHS, what their needs are, and how they expect contractors to support their mission.

The morning event also is a great opportunity for networking with competitors and potential partners.

In addition McCormack and Correa, other speakers include:

  • Mark Borkowski, chief acquisition officer for Customs and Border Protection
  • Stephen Rice, CIO of TSA
  • Carl DeBarnard Jr., director of TSA’s enterprise IT division
  • Bill Weinberg, chief acquisition officer of Immigration and Customs Enforcement
  • Brian Burns, deputy CIO of the Coast Guard

Rice and DeBarnard will be giving a joint presentation.

The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with networking and a breakfast, and I’ll get the program started at 8:15. We’ll wrap everything up by noon.

I hope to see you there.
