The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is exploring the idea of moving away from an enterprise license agreement and to the cloud for a suite of Microsoft products.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is exploring the idea of moving away from an enterprise license agreement for Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint and Office and shifting them to the cloud.

The CFPB was created by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to regulate consumer financial products.

The agency has about 1,940 users, and it is looking for information on the costs associated with moving to other products or other means of access to its email and office automation tools.

In a new sources sought notice, the agency is asking a series of questions:

  • Logistical and costs information on moving from the current enterprise agreement to another product’s license?
  • What is the total cost over five years including transition costs, one-time costs and on-going costs, and costs for things such as administrator support, helpdesk and network connectivity?

Other questions involve the transition to the cloud, encryption, Blackberry Enterprise server, electronic records, and FedRamp compliance.

Responses are due Aug. 9. The solicitation number on the RFI is CFP-16-XXXX.
