Cognosante wins $545M VA supply chain management order

Cognosante wins a potential $545 million task order for supply chain management and technology integration services to the Veterans Affairs Department.

Cognosante has won a potential five-year, $545 million task order for supply chain management and technology integration services to the Veterans Affairs Department.

The work pertains to how the VA operates its IT product line consisting of legacy systems and those of a commercial-off-the-shelf or government-off-the-shelf nature amid broader modernization efforts, according to solicitation documents.

The VA selected a proposal from the legacy Business Information Technology Solutions company on Monday over six other bidders, according to Federal Procurement Data System information.

Fairfax, Virginia-headquartered Cognosante acquired BITS in 2016 and subsequently gained a prime position on the VA’s T4NG contract vehicle for technology modernization services, under which this order was awarded.

Cognosante is at $352.9 million in task order spend to-date from T4NG, according to Deltek data.

The company will work with the VA’s office of information and technology on rolling out a new supply chain solution that covers all aspects of medical logistics, including site deployment and integration with other systems.

That includes all aspects of development, testing, integration, systems architecture, refactoring and other operations and maintenance support.
