AT&T formalizes public sector leadership promotion

AT&T formalizes its promotion of the executive who has led its public sector work on an interim basis for nearly six months to take that role permanently.

AT&T has promoted Jason Porter, a nearly two-decade company veteran and head of the FirstNet public safety network business since 2019, to also lead its other work for public sector customers.

Porter’s official title at AT&T is president of public sector and FirstNet, the telecommunications company said Thursday.

He has overseen AT&T’s public sector on an interim basis since the departure of Xavier Williams in September 2020 to be CEO of American Virtual Cloud Technologies.

Before taking up the FirstNet role, Porter was AT&T’s chief data officer with responsibility for functions related to technology planning and cybersecurity.
