Redwire's latest acquisition eyes both the physical and digital

In Redwire's sixth acquisition, the space technology outfit finds a business that focuses on both the platforms and the digital assets they have.

Redwire has made another acquisition that represents the space technology outfit’s sixth deal and that includes the one to create the company itself in June 2020.

In a release Tuesday, Redwire said it has purchased Oakman Aerospace Inc. to bring in in more products and services related to space platforms and their digital assets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

OAI touts its technology focus areas as including modular open system architecture, rapid spacecraft design and development; plus customized aspects that include missions, payloads and applications.

The company was founded in 2012 and headquartered in Littleton, Colorado.

Private equity firm AE Industrial Partners first unveiled Redwire through the combination of portfolio company Adcole Space with another acquired business in Deep Space Systems. Redwire is led by CEO Pete Cannito, who also was chief executive of the former Polaris Alpha.

Jacksonville, Florida-based Redwire has subsequently further built up its product portfolio through the acquisitions of Made In Space, Roccor and LoadPath.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers was the financial adviser to Redwire with Kirkland & Ellis LLP the legal adviser. Karsh & Co. and ReliAscent LLC were the financial advisers to OAI with Fortis Law Partners the legal adviser.
