Northrop promotes new technology chief from within

Northrop Grumman has promoted Scott Stapp, a former vice president in the space systems segment, to the role of chief technology officer for the entire corporation.

Stapp will report to Chairman and CEO Kathy Warden as he leads the company’s overall technology strategy including the development of new products, creating new business opportunities and supporting existing programs.

He will also help lead efforts to engage and develop Northrop’s technical talent, the company said Wednesday.

Stapp joined Northrop in 2014 and most recently was vice president of resiliency and rapid prototyping for the space business. Prior to that, he was VP of applied research and technology development for the aeronautics systems business.

Prior to his appointment at Northrop, he served as director of special programs at the Defense Department and as principal staff assistant to the Pentagon’s undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics.
