Huntington Ingalls reorgs services segment

Huntington Ingalls Industries reorganizes its government services segment in an effort to achieve function efficiencies and align with customers.

Huntington Ingalls Industries has reorganized its government services segment from having five business groups into three in an effort to achieve function efficiencies and align with customers.

HII Technical Solutions combined its fleet support and mission driven innovative solutions groups into the new defense and federal solutions group now led by Garry Schwartz, the shipbuilder said Tuesday. Schwartz formerly led the mission driven innovative solutions group as president before the realignment.

The defense and federal solutions unit will focus on customers in the Defense Department, intelligence community, federal civilian realm and certain commercial segments. HII lists this group’s work as including maritime fleet sustainment; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; cyber operations; secure enterprise IT engineering and operations; advanced modeling, simulation and training; and logistics management.

Divisions of Technical Solutions left unchanged were the unmanned systems unit formed earlier this year through the acquisition of Hydroid, plus nuclear and environmental services whose main government client is the Energy Department.
