MITRE stands up new R&D org

MITRE places all of its research-and-development functions into a single organization and promotes one of its senior executives to lead it.

MITRE has reorganized its internal research-and-development efforts and talent into a single unit and promoted one of its senior executives to lead that shop.

In a release Tuesday, the nonprofit firm said MITRE Labs will comprise almost half of the overall workforce and aim to further extend the parent organization’s impact across federally-funded research-and-development centers and with partners in academia and industry.

Charles Clancy has been named senior vice president and general manager of MITRE Labs. Clancy will also take on the role of chief futurist nearly one year after he first joined as vice president of intelligence programs.

MITRE has also appointed nearly four-decade firm veteran John Wilson as vice president and chief information and security officer, nearly nine months after he started that position on an interim basis. Christina Orfanos was promoted to vice president of talent experience and total rewards.
