The board of directors for Serco Group’s U.S. subsidiary has elected a new member in Tina Jonas, former Defense Department comptroller and chief financial officer.

Jonas will officially join the Serco Inc. board on July 1 and brings both government and commercial market experience to the business, according to a Tuesday release.

A two-decade federal service veteran, Jonas’ career in government culminated with four years as the Pentagon’s CFO from 2004 to 2008. She is also a former CFO for the FBI, deputy defense undersecretary for financial management and has held senior roles with the White House budget office and House Appropriations subcommittee for defense.

Jonas was most recently CEO of UnitedHealthcare, one of two segments within the larger UnitedHealth Group, where she also held roles such as president of Logistics Health Inc. and a senior vice president at Optum Health.

Prior to UnitedHealth Group, she was an executive for four years in the aerospace and defense sector at companies such as Passur Aerospace and the former United Technologies Corp.
