MicroTech appoints new COO

MicroTech hires a nearly 28-year Army acquisition veteran to be the company's next chief operating officer.

MicroTech has hired retired Army Maj. Gen. Kirk Vollmecke as chief operating officer to aid in efforts to expand IT managed services and cloud computing work with agencies, the company said Thursday.

The 28-year military acquisition veteran will also oversee activities in products and research-and-development to support business operations and growth development. Vollmecke will report to founder and CEO Tony Jimenez.

Vollmecke was most recently the Army’s program executive officer for intelligence, electronic warfare and sensors at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland until his 2019 retirement from the branch.

His military career also includes service as deputy for acquisition and systems management, commanding general of the Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command, and deputy for deputy assistant secretary of the Army for procurement.
