VSE appoints new federal leader

VSE Corp. appoints two-decade industry veteran Robert Moore to lead its federal services group.

Logistics services provider VSE Corp. has hired 25-year industry veteran Robert Moore as president of its federal services group.

Moore joins the Alexandria, Virginia-based company to chart the next phase of growth for a business that includes the Defense Department and Postal Services as customers, plus other civilian agencies.

VSE also provides IT services to federal government and health care industry customers through its Akimeka subsidiary in addition to the supply chain management, training and engineering work.

He succeeds Joseph Brown, who led the group for nearly four years until he retired from VSE in May.

In a Thursday release, VSE touted Moore’s background in business development at federal contractors such as IAP, DynCorp International, PAE, BAE Systems and ARINC.

VSE’s federal services group posted $337 million in revenue last year to represent around 48 percent of total sales. The hire of Moore comes nearly six months after VSE announced its appointment of former Boeing and KLX executive John Cuomo as CEO to succeed Maurice Gautier, who retired in April after 11 years at the helm.

Alongside Moore, VSE also appointed Elizabeth Huggins as chief of staff and corporate vice president of strategy. She is a 19-year veteran of the aerospace-and-defense sector.
