VA makes 6 awards on $900M intake contract

The Veterans Affairs Department chooses all six bidders for a $900 million intake contract as the VA aims for a full paperless claims environment.

The Veterans Affairs Department has made six awards on a potential five-year, $900 million contract for intake and other managed services amid the VA’s push toward a paperless claims processing environment.

No protests appear to be a near-certainty given there were six bids for the multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, according to Federal Procurement Data System information that tracks contracting obligations.

Bids chosen for award were from Accenture Federal Services, Deloitte, General Dynamics IT, GovernmentCIO, IBM and Leidos.

Solicitation documents for the Veterans Intake, Conversation and Communication Services contract describe work as including mail processing, data conversion, data reconciliation, data transfer, new business rule creation and change management.

The VA's current benefits management system requires conversion of claims-related source materials submitted either via paper, electronic or other means. This can include information stored on microfilm, microfiche, CDs, DVDs and flash memory devices.
