REI Systems hires new growth chief

REI Systems appoints a new chief growth officer on the heels of recent defense and civilian market wins.

Sterling, Virginia-based REI Systems said Tuesday it has hired nearly three-decade government market veteran Gene Zapfel as chief growth officer.

Zapfel’s career includes 10 years at Unisys and a decade prior to that with Booz Allen Hamilton. More recently, he was chief operating officer at Concept Plus.

REI cited recent wins with the Commerce and Defense Departments, Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau as spurring growth and needed executive appointments to support that expansion.

The company also announced it named two-decade IT veteran and former Health and Human Services Department executive Jason McGill as business development director for its grant management systems line.

REI specializes in technology solutions for grant management and analytics functions, as well as for agile software development and application modernization programs at federal agencies.
