Perspecta books $155M Veterans Affairs health record support contract

Perspecta receives a $155 million contract to support Veterans Affairs' electronic health record system as the VA moves toward transitioning to a new EHR.

Perspecta has booked a potential five-year, $155 million contract that extends its technical services to support the Veterans Affairs Department’s main electronic health records system.

This award comes amid the VA’s effort to start transitioning to a new EHR provided by Cerner over the next decade under a potential $10 billion contract. In the meantime, the VA has to keep its longstanding homegrown “VISTA” system up and running.

The contract with Perspecta has one base year and up to four option years, the company said Wednesday. When adding in its heritage companies, Perspecta has supported the VISTA system for at least 20 years.

Work will include engineering and technical support, changes, updates and operation of an expertise center to diagnose and mitigate complex issues with the EHR.

The center will provide users maintenance and support services that include a call center help desk, infrastructure and technical performance management, system performance monitoring, and hardware and software troubleshooting.
