Aerospace-and-defense engineering company VT Systems has hired longtime Raytheon executive Tom Vecchiolla as president and CEO in a move to take effect Dec. 1.

Vecchiolla will succeed current chief executive John Coburn, who will stay on as chairman of the board. Coburn has led Alexandria, Virginia-based VT Systems since its inception in 2001 by parent company Singapore Technologies Engineering.

More recently at Raytheon, Vecchiolla led the company’s international sales and marketing arm that has footprints in more than 80 countries around the world.

ST Engineering says the U.S. is its largest market outside of Singapore and represents one-fifth of the company’s overall revenue profile.
