New NoVA Chamber CEO named

The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce announces Julie Coons as its new president and CEO.

The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, which counts many government contracting firms among its members, has named a new president and CEO.

Julie Coons will take the reins on Sept. 10. She will succeed Jim Corcoran, who has led the organization for eight years. He announced his intent to step down in April with his last day to be July 1.

Coons comes to the chamber from the Council of Better Business Bureaus where she served as chief operating officer. Previously, she was president and CEO of the Electronic Retailing Association. Prior to that, she was president and CEO of the Maryland Tech Council.

The hiring of Coons comes after a national search in which the chamber used the McCormick Group, a national executive search consulting firm. The chamber’s search committee was chaired by Kathy Albarado, CEO of Helios HR.
