Accenture has hired two-decade FBI veteran Howard Marshall as intelligence director for the company's cyber threat intelligence services team.

Marshall will lead Accenture's iDefense team and direct a cybersecurity team focused on deep research and analysis on potential threats, the company said Tuesday. That team looks at threat actors, industry vertical-specific threats, new malware variants, software vulnerabilities and emerging targeted cyber attacks.

He joins the Accenture team more than a year after its acquisition of iDefense from Verisign to add new threat intelligence offerings. Accenture said at the time it planned to embed that intelligence into services the company manages for customers' security operations.

More recently, Marshall was a deputy assistant director in the FBI's cyber division and led the readiness, outreach and intelligence branch. His career also includes roles such as supervisory special agent for the cyber division at FBI headquarters and leadership positions at field offices.
