AAI picked for unmanned systems work in Afghanistan

The Air Force has tapped AAI Corp. to supply and operate unmanned aircraft systems in Afghanistan.

The Air Force has tapped AAI Corp. of Hunt Valley, Md., to supply and operate unmanned aircraft systems in Afghanistan.

Under a $15.7 million contract, Textron Systems' AAI subsidiary will supply unmanned aircraft systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services.

The work includes supporting force protection efforts and providing non-developmental contractor-owned and operated UAS ISR solution for operational, engineering and sustainment efforts.

Work will be based out of Bagram and Kandahar Airfields.

The contract runs through Sept. 27, 2018 and was awarded as a sole-source contract.
