DOD looking for ways to improve transportation data

The U.S. Transportation Command is exploring whether a small business can meet its transportation automation and information needs.

The Defense Department’s U.S. Transportation Command is determining whether a small business can meet its transportation automation and information needs.

The command needs solutions for improving surface transportation automation and information services, which support the warfighters, according to its recent request for information. The command needs a company to update and maintain software, enhance automation capabilities, sustain system operations, and analyze system changes.

Defense officials say they can make the best decisions about surface transportation by managing and improving the quality of the enterprise’s data.

USTRANSCOM’s Integrated Mission Support for Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (ISDDC) system provides comprehensive data cleansing, data enhancement and data integration with reporting and data analysis capability. It offers integrated data visibility and reporting from all SDDC transportation systems.

The contract would include nine task areas, including:

  • Contract-level and project management
  • ISDDC sustainment
  • ISDDC enhancements
  • Configuration management
  • Training support
  • Electronic Data Interchange sustainment and maintenance
  • Data management support
  • Information assurance
  • Advanced technology application

USTRANSCOM issued the RFI Dec. 27. Responses are due by Jan. 16.
