Document Storage Systems wins a five-year, $27.3 million contract to help the Veterans Health Administration implement a new kidney patient care management system.

Document Storage Systems has won a five-year, $27.3 million contract to help the Veterans Health Administration implement a new patient care management system for those suffering from kidney diseases.

VHA sought a new nationwide dialysis electronic health record system for Veterans Affairs Department facilities across the U.S., according to the solicitation issued in January.

Juno Beach, Fla.-based DSS will be responsible for all aspects of the EHR system outside of the dialysis machines and computer workstations, the solicitation says. DSS’ work will include configuration, installation, testing, training, maintenance and support.

DSS’ teaming partner Cybernius Medical Ltd. will provide the care management system to the VA. That system will be integrated with the department’s VistA environment through the use of DSS' integration toolkit and integration framework, DSS said.
